Ooty beauties :)

On my last post here, I had promised to show you all the beauties of Ooty and keeping it up, here they follow...

The Botanical gardens, Doddabetta, Gorishola and other places host a variety of colourful, yet characteristically different gems of Nilgiris that bowl you over, truly a romantic place indeed :)

Nothing much to speak about, enjoy seeing them and if you get a chance do visit them personally... Cheers!

(Blackbird subspecies found only in SW India)

(A colorful Laughingthrush)

(The Star attraction of Ooty... as the name suggests Black & Orange Flycatcher)

Well, I have missed the Kashmir Flycatcher, Nilgiri Wood Pigeon, Nilgiri Blue Robin, but that's a cause for another trip to Ooty to search for the beauties :)

Decrypting Wikipedia

How many of us have not used information from Wikipedia…?

How many of us have not used the content from Wikipedia for our work and benefited from it?

How many of us have not felt that Wikipedia should have more content in it?

How many of us have found some errors in the text or missing photos for a subject in Wikipedia?

How many of us have not felt that we should contribute and help Wikipedia grow?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you say yay to any of the above, then here is an excellent opportunity to ‘decrypt Wikipedia’ and ways to contribute and help make it more comprehensive and better.

More details of the event here on Facebook and please register yourself here for arranging the logistics. I repeat entry is free and any interested individual can attend.

About the Author: Shyamal Lakshminarayanan is a Wikipedia expert and volunteers as a ‘Wikipedia Online Ambassador’. By far, as I’m aware, he has edited/contributed most number of articles on Wikipedia around here.

T R E E

What is a Tree...? Can anybody describe... !!! :)

For me, its a living thing that reflects our identity, something that withstands all brutality forced upon it, yet provides us with shade and food, a TREE is part of us without which probably we can't survive!

Trees are earth's endless efforts to speak to the listening heaven.
-Rabindranath Tagore

Someones is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree long ago.
-Warren Buffet

Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.
-Abraham Lincoln

He who plants a tree; Plants a hope.
-Lucy Larcom

This post is in relation to the first ever Bengaluru Tree Festival - 'Neralu' happening on 8/9th February 2014. Be there and join the revolution!
